It’s January 1st, 2014!! How exciting. A new year, a fresh start, and an opportunity to reflect on where we’ve been and where we are going. After a little soul searching, I’ve decided that I want a single word that will describe my focus in 2014. I’ve landed on the word FOUNDATIONS. Why in the world would I base my entire upcoming year off of the word foundations? I’m so glad you asked!
I’m learning that to build something great, you have to have a rock solid foundation. My focus in 2014 will be to build those foundations in the key areas of my life.
- Focusing Inward – To be better for those around me, I need to treat myself better. Spiritually, physically and mentally.
- Outward Creativity – To capture amazing moments, I have to be prepared and accessible in those moments.
- Grow Professionally – To step forward in my career, I must put forth the effort in presentation and production.
I know that setting specific goals can be a good thing, but I also know that sometimes we’re simply setting ourselves up for failure. So instead of saying I’m going to lose 30 pounds in 90 days, or I’m going go to the gym 3 times a week for the next 12 weeks, I’m going to choose to work on my foundations, so I can build something strong and steady in 2014 and beyond.
