Fighting Weight Loss Focus

So a few weeks ago, three to be exact, I began chatting about losing weight.  Again.  In the past three weeks, I’ve actually gained 2 pounds.  Sad isn’t it?  Well, I’ve decided to chat about the failures along with the successes.

We’ve had parties and holiday’s and long days and so much going on in the past three weeks, it’s been a whirlwind time.  Unfortunately, i’m the type that is willing to go the easy route in these types of times.  It’s easier to just relax in front of the tv, or stop at Chick-Fil-A on the way home from work, or go out to eat and eat awful food because of time.  It’s sad, I know, but it’s me.  I’ve got to find a way to figure out how to get around this.

So I’m shooting for a renewed focus.  Since I met my wife, I’ve gained almost 80 pounds.  It’s sad, and it has to stop.  Feel free to bug me, push me, nag me on getting my life back under control.   Okay, my little rant is done, you can return to your regularly planned activities.

A New Weight Loss Goal

So this is my first post being written mostly from my BlackBerry. Hopefully it won’t turn out too poorly.

A couple of weeks ago, I heard a radio ad about the Pound for Pound challenge. With each pound pledged by me, a donation is made to our local foodbank. As some of you may know, the topic of Hunger has become an important topic to me recently. It bothers me that over 60,000 people in Baltimore go hungry each and every day. Take a moment to really think about that.

Well now that there is an opportunity for me to combine a personal goal with a community need, I’m jumping right in.  Currently I’m weighing in at 240 pounds. Not healthy in any way. So my goal for the pound for pound challenge is to lose 40 pounds.

I’d love for you to join us in supporting the Maryland Food Bank and their work against hunger.  We’ve setup a FaceBook group where everyone can connect and share their goals, successes and hurdles. Please join us and pass it along. Perhaps we can make a real difference for ourselves and more importantly our community.

Weight Loss Wednesday: A Fresh Start

I’ve chatted about losing weight and things along those lines for months, if not years, and after participating in the Heart Walk, the thoughts have been growing.  A few days ago, my wife issued a small challenge to me, the thought of each of us losing 10lbs by Christmas.    I like the idea of small steps.  I’ve always been focused on the end goal, and I don’t think that’s helped much.

I got an email earlier this week that today is Start! Eating Healthy Day, so I figured, hey why not!  Maybe it’s a sign you know?

So I went ahead and weighed myself, not pretty, but guess we’ll be honest.  165.5lbs!  Wasn’t that great! Awesome news! I was really surprised! Well anyways…thanks for joining me on this incredible journey of weight loss.

What? You don’t believe me?  Geesh, I think it’s perfectly acceptable that I lose 60 lbs in a few moments.  I can’t believe you don’t believe me.  WELL FINE! ;0) My real weight is 233lbs.  So my goal by Christmas Day is 223lbs.  1o lbs lost!  I’ve signed up at Start Walking Now and created my own walking plan.  16 weeks of getting healthy!  Why don’t you come join me!  Join the community and lets set some goals for ourselves and become healthier people together.
