On the way home from Fusion Church Plant last night, we had in one of the Third Day worship albums and a couple of songs played that I’ve always loved and I thought they might help us remember what’s been done for us, and hopefully life our mood a bit. So, here you go, hope you enjoy. Please let me know which songs help you best focus on what’s been done for you by Christ. The second song “Love Song” is in my opinion one of the most powerful songs I’ve heard that has always made me stop and give thanks for the life I have.

So this is a new music video out from Switchfoot. It focuses on what we do to ourselves. This is a song I can deeply connect to. So many times we struggle with our failures and we are unable to let them go. We never get to fully live because of what we do to ourselves, and we will never forgive ourselves. Great song! Enjoy.

So, I was listening to a local Christian radio station on my drive into work today, and something that 1 caller mentioned really bugged me. Since I’m known for my rants, and yes sometimes they are even valid, i’ve decided to begin a category on this site known as my Random Rant. I’ll warn you, these won’t be filled with love and kindness, and if you’re the type of person who doesn’t like change or challenges, I’d recommend you stop reading now.

Onto the story:

The topic of this mornings discussion centered around when you start getting into the Christmas Mood. Lots of great conversation was had with lots of great points. One caller voiced that she loved how this time of year challenged her to Volunteer and Give to people, and not in the commercial vision that so many of us have come to love. Ok, so far so good, she’s got this one dead on. Volunteering and helping people is what Christ wants us to do, we’re to show the love of our God via our love towards those around us. Then came the words that got me ranting: “If we pray and wait for god, he will show us these opportunities”. Now, this isn’t word for word, but pretty close to the idea she was trying to get across.

I couldn’t help but think God was up there in Heaven doing a million and one things and upon hearing her words, he stopped in his tracks. Perhaps even throwing out a “I’m sorry, what?!?!” Now I’ll pause here, since I’m sure that some of you might feel I’m making our God too human, and being terrible and all of those things. Just get over it, there is a much larger point here.

Back to God: I know that our God can provide opportunities to us, and prayer is vitally important in our relationship with him. However, I think that if God chose to send emails, this is what it might say.

Dear Mam (I’m using Mam here as I don’t know her name, we know he knows but lets stay on topic here. ),

Just a few moments ago you called into a radio show discussing your love for this time of year and how you feel challenged to help others and give of yourself. I love that! I love hearing those words from my children, and it makes me so happy to hear that you want to give of yourself to others. However, there is one small thing I feel we need to discuss.

I’m sure you’re well aware, but we have a lot going on up here. Even with with the advances in technology, you know “Cloud Technology” (Get it? CLOUD Technology? I really make myself crack up sometimes.) really helps, we’ve still got a ton going on up here. I know you had the best intentions, but “waiting” on us to help you find somewhere to serve isn’t the “best” use of either of our days. We’ve worked to bring a lot of information right to your finger tips and we’d appreciate if you’d use the resources available to you, instead of simply “waiting” for us to show you the perfect place to serve.

Some of the better resources for your search include:

Google

Yahoo

Bing

Ask.com

Superpages

Yellowbook

FaceBook

Twitter

Really, this list could be much longer, we’ve got a lot of resources in place for you. So, the next time you have a heart to serve, we encourage you to utilize some of the resources available to you. If you do not have access to a computer, then got with our old standby, your pastor. If he’s aware you are in need of something to fill your time, we’ve made sure that he’s got a full list of places where you can be used.

Again, I love your servant heart, and hope you’ll jump on finding a great place to serve through the numerous resources we’ve provided.

Sincerely,
God
I can be found in your local church & on
twitter.com/god
facebook.com/god
youtube.com/user/god

Now I’m sure I might have made a few of you uneasy, and few of you laugh with this one, but hopefully the point hits home. God has empowered us to serve, and there is no need to wait on him to find the “perfect place” to serve him. So many people are in need, so many are downtrodden, so many are sad, lonely, lost and confused. They need us to be true followers of Christ, focused on changing the lives of the Least of These.

Ok, that’s it for today’s rant, you may now return to your regularly scheduled life. Thank you for your time and attention!
