So in a recent article and video over at Web Pro News, Matt Cutts of Google shares that ranking is going away from the point of view of importance, and traffic and conversions is much more important.
I’m not sure if I’m the only one that feels this, but isn’t this stating the obvious? More traffic = More Opportunities for Conversion = More Conversions = Success. I thought from day one of web site planning and development goals are set for a web site. I’ve never sat in a meeting and the only goal was to rank #1 in Google for a particular search term. The goals we outlined were always about bringing specific, qualified traffic to the web site, and then making that traffic count.
As we work with clients, we don’t discuss ranking, we discuss the success we’ve had reaching the goals defined at our initial point of development, and we work to improve and refine those goals as we continue moving forward.
I’m amazed that this is a “new” discussion, and something neat to think about as we head into 2009. This should have been your process since the first day you began working as a web designer or SEO specialist. Results is the only factor that matters. For 99% of web sites, general traffic is not the goal.
Do the Right Thing
So, take the time to do the right thing for your clients. Focus on results, and only on results. Set realistic goals and work for them, day in, day out. Success will be yours.

So, I’ve recently made the decision to move my business towards a focus on eCommerce and specifically to focus on solutions using the Pinnacle Cart commerce system. As part of this move, I very actively need developers capable of doing high quality work, at a fair price.
Numerous chats with numerous developers have led me to one single conclusion. There can’t possibly be any good developer that understands the importance of communication and follow through on a project.
My key point here is that if you are a developer, and you work with a client with specific deadlines, you really must meet them, or communicate that you’re not going to meet them ahead of time, and give them a reason and a new time to deliver.

So, i was sent this great read from my sister, and thought I’d pass it along. Of course, you can take it as you wish, but i think this speaks the truth more than any other opinion piece I’ve seen on taxes.
A very great letter from a boss to his employees. Of course, I’m sure this has been out there, but wanted to post this. I’m a small business owner, and so is my wife, and while we haven’t huge success yet, we want to, and this sums up how many small to medium sized business owners feel about taxes.
Enjoy the read….

So, google has recently launched their Search-based keyword tool. This is a new and very interesting tool available to anyone, but with more features and uses for those advertising with Google.
This new tool is actually a very revealing tool if you take the time to learn how to use it and apply it to the overall action plan aimed at developing a more enhanced web experience for your visitors. This tool can help you understand what users are looking for, their frequency, and you can take that information and either focus on the larger traffic keywords, or fine tune using the more specific phrasing that would lead to your best customer.
